SUCH A LONG JOURNEY
Canada/Great Britain, 1998, 113 minutes

Based on the Governor General Award-winning novel by Rohinton Mistry, Such a Long Journey is an intricately layered, wryly humorous story set in the Parsi community of Bombay in 1971, the year India went to war with Pakistan. The film stars Roshan Seth (My Beautiful Launderette, Gandhi) as Gustad Noble, a dedicated bank clerk and devoted family man who sees his modest life unraveling when he agrees to do a favour for a mysterious old friend, Jimmy.

Compassionate, broad in its vision, and rich in details of character and place, Sturla Gunnarsson's (Diplomatic Immunity, Gerrie & Louise) fine film fashions a mature and rewarding saga that charts the journey of a moral heart in a turbulent world of change.
