A Traveling Medicine Show

Writer-Director

A Traveling Medicine Show will be Amnon Buchbinder’s second feature film as a director. His short films, including Criminal Language, Oroboros and Seed, have screened at festivals such as Cannes, Edinburgh, Rotterdam, Lille, Toronto, Los Angeles. They have been exhbited at London's National Film Theatre, the Paris Cinématheque and venues across North America, and they have been broadcast nationally by the CBC and internationally. Seeking to develop his skills at dramatic directing and to balance the conceptual and visual strength nurtured in his short films, Buchbinder undertook his first feature, The Fishing Trip, an emotionally intense, performance-driven narrative. The critically acclaimed, Genie-winning film triumphed over its limited resources to be released theatrically and in all broadcast windows. A Traveling Medicine Show will marry the visionary approach of his short films with the dramatic intensity of his first feature. In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Buchbinder programmed films for the Toronto and Vancouver festivals and elsewhere. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Film and Video at York University.
